Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a temporary Special Education teacher to adapt lessons for students with mild to moderate disabilities and provide direct instruction across subjects. Duties include planning, assessments, behavior management, and collaboration with families.

The role requires a Colorado teaching license, a relevant degree, and a commitment to equity and high-quality education. Position ends 6/4/2027, on-site in Denver.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Colorado Department of Education teaching license.
  • Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Live in Colorado and meet physical requirements for daily instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized lesson plans in all subject areas aligned to standards.
  • Administer and interpret formal and informal educational assessments.
  • Monitor and reinforce positive student behavior per policy.
  • Prepare materials, adapt teaching methods, and communicate objectives.
  • Provide daily living assistance and operate adaptive equipment as trained.
  • Participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the bargaining agreement.
