Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking Special Education teachers to adapt lessons for students with mild to moderate disabilities and to deliver instruction across subjects. You will tailor plans to meet diverse needs and support students’ academic and daily living skills.

The role requires a teaching license from the Colorado Department of Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. ELA-S roles require bilingual Spanish/English proficiency and related certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is required for ELA-S positions.
  • Colorado Department of Education teaching license is required; CDE application receipt accepted for 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes individualized lesson plans across subjects following district standards.
  • Administers and interprets formal and informal assessments.
  • Monitors and enforces student behavior per district policy and class expectations.
  • Plans and adapts instructional materials to meet diverse student needs and interests.
  • Provides daily living assistance and operates adaptive technology as trained.
