Job summary

Chicago Public Schools on the Southwest Side invites applications for a teaching position. Under the supervision of the school principal, teachers are responsible for instruction, progress tracking, and classroom discipline.

A valid Illinois teaching license with LBS1 endorsement is required, plus a bachelor’s degree and completion of the CPS online application.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate deep understanding of content and pedagogy to select objectives and design coherent instruction and assessments
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management of behaviors and procedures
• Design engaging instruction with challenging questions and instructionally aligned assessments
• Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal skills, and professional judgment in interactions with staff and families
• Prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of the Student Code of Conduct and school-wide systems of management and discipline
• Personalize student learning through mastery and innovative use of curriculum supplements and technology resources
• Advocate for CPS vision and equity, high expectations, and inclusive teaching
