Job summary

Playworks is seeking a Site Specialist to bring healthy play to two elementary schools in the New Bedford, MA area. The role requires on-site work during school days and offers two weeks of training before the year begins.

You will lead recess activities, train students, and partner with school staff to expand program reach. The position runs about 3 months (Dec 1, 2026 – Apr 30, 2027) at $24.47/hour, with transportation to dispersed sites and ongoing regional support.

Qualifications

• Proven organizational skills in planning and delivering program plans, reports, and notes.
• Extensive knowledge of youth development principles and practices.
• At least 2 years of experience working with groups of children.
• Experience leading trainings for adults and presenting to groups.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build professional relationships with internal leadership and teams and external clients.
• Experience engaging with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe and fun recess programming, teaching games, conflict resolution, and positive play.
• Facilitate Class Game Time, building skills and confidence for recess participation.
• Lead the Junior Coach Leadership Program, training 4th–6th grade students in leadership and teamwork.
• Provide training and support to school staff to strengthen recess programming.
• Develop schedules and implement Playworks programming with school leadership.
• Maintain program schedules, timesheets, documentation, and evaluation materials.
• Represent Playworks professionally and identify opportunities for continued partnership.
• Support regional events, trainings, and fundraising initiatives.
