Job Summary

The Center for Children and Families is currently seeking two 20-40 hour per week Temporary Research Assistant to join their team of professionals. The Center for Children and Families, an interdisciplinary Preeminent center at Florida International University (FIU), has 41 faculty associates, 450+ undergraduates, and 100+ trainees in masters, doctoral, and professional programs who study child and adolescent mental health and are focused on advancing the way we treat child and adolescent mental health disorders. The CCF has a tripartite mission that includes research, education, and service and it operates a renowned, multi-disciplinary clinic where state of the art, evidence-based treatments are offered to children and families that struggle with mental health conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, conduct and behavioral problems, difficulties with academic and social skills, and depression in children and adolescents. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other grant funding to the CCF exceeds $18 million annually.

Duties Include
  • Schedule study participants for research treatment sessions and assessments with reminders.
  • Provide assistance with participant recruitment which includes but is not limited to the following activities: effectively communicating with potential referral sources to coordinate recruitment events; conducting recruitment events at schools and other referral sites; following up with contacts at referral sites to facilitate direct referrals.
  • Conduct standardized telephone screening interviews with potential study participants in Spanish and English.
  • Conduct standardized assessments for study participants which includes but is not limited to questionnaires, rating scales, and interviews.
  • Organize documents and collect data from participants during assessment visits. Verify all completed forms. Follow up with participants to gather missing data.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support. Inform project coordinator of supplies and materials needed in advance and assists with placing orders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma with three (3) years of experience or two (2) years of post-secondary education with one (1) year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
