Job summary

The University of Washington in the Phoenix area is seeking an Animal Technician on a temporary basis to support care of non-human primates. Reports to the Animal Technician Supervisor and performs essential, hands-on animal care duties on site.

Responsibilities include feeding, monitoring health, maintaining records, and ensuring proper enclosure sanitation and safety practices. The role requires physical capability and adherence to PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Must be able to work in PPE indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform animal care duties; provide custodial care for animals and facilities.
• Feed and water animals per prescribed diets.
• Transfer animals between enclosures while maintaining identity.
• Clean and sterilize cages, pans, runs and surrounding areas.
• Observe animals for abnormalities and report observations.
• Maintain records related to feeding, care and animal identification.
• Operate within health/safety policies and required PPE.
