Job summary

UC Davis CNPRC seeks an Animal Technician to perform routine care of the indoor nonhuman primate colony, including observing health, feeding, cleaning rooms and cages, and providing basic technical and experimental support to PIs.

Work under supervision, follow NIH/OLAW/AAALAC standards and SOPs, handle primates potentially infected with hazardous agents, and contribute to welfare and safety while maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

  • Six months to one year of relevant work experience in animal care.
  • Experience in animal care husbandry duties and knowledge of care of laboratory animals.
  • Ability to recognize signs of illness or abnormal behavior and observe accurately.
  • Ability to handle laboratory animals safely and follow disease control and sanitation principles.

Responsibilities

  • Routine Animal Care: observe, feed, clean rooms and cages, monitor health.
  • Provide Technical Support & Assistance to PIs and research projects.
  • Develop technical skills and assist with experimental procedures.
