Job summary

Alliant Energy in Wisconsin seeks a Power Plant Assistant to support turbine, boiler and coal handling operations. You’ll perform rounds, monitor equipment, and follow safety protocols under supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, lubricating bearings, operating ash/slag handling systems, taking readings, and recording data. A High School diploma and willingness to work varying shifts are required. Valid driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in an electric generating facility preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment.
• Care for station oil supply and lubricate bearings.
• Ensure major and minor auxiliaries operate correctly.
• Operate ash and slag handling equipment.
• Take readings, perform tests, and record data.
• Start up and shut down turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Perform routine maintenance when not operating.
• Follow procedures and safety practices.
• Inspect, adjust, repack and operate equipment; minor maintenance.
• Operate Air Quality Control Systems (Lime/Recycle, PAC, SCR).
• Switching operations under supervision.
