Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in electric generating facility preferred.
• Must possess valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Keep turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment neat, clean and operating properly.
• Care for and purify the station oil supply; keep bearings and equipment well lubricated.
• Ensure major and minor auxiliary equipment operate properly.
• Operate ash and slag handling equipment.
• Perform tests, take readings and record data.
• Start up, shut down and care for turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Perform routine maintenance when not operating.
• Follow established procedures and safety practices.
• Perform other duties similar, related or incidental to the position.
• Inspect, adjust, repack and operate equipment; minor maintenance; clean floors and machinery; change oil; sample boiler water.
• Operate Air Quality Control Systems including Lime/Recycle and activated carbon and SCR.
• Under supervision, conduct switching operations.

Job Summary

This position is perfect for those looking to gain hands‑on experience in the power industry.

As an Equipment Operator – Operations you'll perform various tasks around the plant, including work in the turbine, pump room, boiler, environmental and fuel handling equipment.

You'll work a 12‑hour rotating schedule, with day shifts from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and night shifts from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Relief hours may be required for vacation coverage, vacancies, and service needs. The schedule is subject to change based on plant requirements.

What you will do

• Keep the turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment neat, clean and operating properly.
• Care for and purify the station oil supply and keep bearings and equipment well lubricated.
• Assure that all major and minor auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
• Operate all ash and slag handling equipment.
• Perform tests, take readings and record data.
• Start up, shut down and care for all turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Perform maintenance work of ordinary nature when not operating.
• Perform all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
• Perform other duties which are similar, related, and incidental to the position.
• Example: Inspecting, adjusting, repacking and operating equipment; minor maintenance; sweeping and scrubbing floors, wiping pipes and machinery; changing oil; testing and treating boiler water; collect samples.
• Operate Air Quality Control Systems to include Lime/Recycle and Powdered activated carbon and Selective Catalytic Reactor systems.
• Under the direction of a supervisor conduct switching operations.

Supervision

• Work performed under the supervision of the salaried or hourly supervisor, as assigned.

Required Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience and/or equivalent industrial experience in an electric generating facility.

Preferred Experience

• Power Plant Assistant.

Other Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range

$35.00 - $55.00
