Job summary

Alliant Energy's Columbia Energy Center in Pardeeville, WI, is seeking an Equipment Operator - Operations (Special Temp) to gain hands-on experience at a generating station. You will work around turbine, boiler, coal handling and environmental equipment on a 12-hour rotating schedule.

You will perform maintenance tasks, start/stop operations, take readings, and operate air quality control systems. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with relief coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent industrial experience.
• Ability to work with others and perform physical tasks safely.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic math/science understanding.

Responsibilities

• Keeps turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment neat and operating properly.
• Cares for station oil supply and lubricates bearings and equipment.
• Operates ash and slag handling equipment and records data readings.
• Starts up and shuts down turbine and boiler auxiliaries; performs routine maintenance.
• Adheres to safety practices and established procedures.
