Job summary

The Weston Public Schools is seeking a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher for Field School (grades 4-5) to cover a 3.5 month leave of absence. This full-time role runs 7.5 hours per day (7 hours plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch) and reports to the Building Principal in Weston, MA.

Starting December 15, 2026, the candidate will provide daily coverage, support instruction, and collaborate with staff to maintain a high-quality learning environment during the temporary absence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or preferred.
• Massachusetts Teaching license strongly preferred.
• Experience in diverse public school setting preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher to support Field School (grades 4-5) to cover for a 3.5 month leave of absence. This is a full-time, 7.5 hours per day (7 hours + a 30 minute unpaid lunch break), reporting to the Building Principal. About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).

Desired Qualifications

• A commitment to doing whatever it takes to support students learning and development

Compensation and Benefits

The Permanent Building Substitute will earn $33.52 per hour. This role qualifies for full benefits, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
