Camden County College invites applications for a temporary part-time Instructor- Braiding at the Camden City Campus. The instructor will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on lab instruction using an approved curriculum to prepare students for employment in Braiding.

The role requires lesson planning, materials management, progress monitoring, and timely feedback, with preference for teaching experience and relevant licensure.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication and ability to prepare reports and email students and staff.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong verbal communication for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active NJ State Board of Cosmetology Braiding or Cosmetologist-Hairstylist license.
  • Active NJ State Board Cosmetology Teacher license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum on a daily basis.
  • Develop lesson plans that support student learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, tools, equipment, and supply inventories.

Position Goals

· Career and Technical Institute Instructor for Braiding will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and Workforce Development Recruiter & Cosmetology Program Specialist and will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry-relevant training materials to prepare students for employment in Braiding.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

· 5 years of experience in the field.

· Prior teaching experience preferred.

· Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations, document student progress and email students and staff.

· Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications.

· Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.

· High School Diploma or GED .

· Active NJ State Board of Cosmetology Braiding or Cosmetologist-Hairstylist license.

· Active NJ State Board of Cosmetology Teacher license, preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· This position requires mobility throughout the campus.

· Dexterity in working with computers is mandatory.

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while teaching in a classroom and lab settings.

· Ability to lift, carry, and move Braiding-related equipment or training materials up to 50lbs.

· Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools and training equipment.

· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when demonstrating skills may be required.
