Job Summary

Marist University invites applications for the position of Temporary Painter. The Temporary Painter is responsible for performing all painting functions for dormitories, classrooms, offices, and other areas of the college using latex, oil base, polyurethane, rubber base paints, stains, and varnishes. Multiple opportunities are available.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in painting or verifiable previous experience demonstrating the ability to perform the work is required. Knowledge of paints, their properties, application, and surface preparation is necessary. Ability to mix paints, repair walls, and patch and tape sheetrock and plaster walls is required. A NYS driver’s license with no serious convictions is also required.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to hazards from electrical, mechanical, and chemical sources.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform repetitive bending, squatting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting at least 50 lbs, and climbing ladders and scaffolding.

Essential Functions

• Paint interior and exterior of college buildings and equipment;
• Varnish doors and woodwork;
• Prepare surfaces for painting;
• Maintain inventory of painting supplies;
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored;
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment;
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
