Job summary

Mindrift invites native German speakers in New York City to join a paid in-person research study in Midtown Manhattan. Participants will spend 1–3 days with the research team to discuss daily phone usage and preferred apps, sharing real-life examples and completing a brief habits questionnaire.

Participants should be 18+, residing in NYC, and comfortable with English. The study offers transparent consent and voluntary participation, with compensation at $100/hour up to $2,400 for the full study.

• Use German daily (texting, email, notes)
• Smartphone used as main personal phone for 3+ years
• Comfortable communicating in English
• Available for 3 consecutive days (Mon-Wed or Thu-Sat), starting Oct 16
• Not currently employed by a tech or AI company

Job description

Mindrift is running a research study on how people use their phones, apps and everyday digital tools, and how that differs across languages and cultures. We're looking for native German speakers in New York to join a paid, 3-day in-person study in Midtown Manhattan.

Why your language matters

Most technology is still designed with English speakers in mind. This study helps researchers understand how people who communicate in German actually use their devices, so future products work better for them.

What you'll do

• Fill in a short questionnaire about your habits.

Who we're looking for

• 18+ and currently living in NYC.
• A native German speaker who grew up in Austria.
• You use German in everyday life: texting friends, email, notes.
• You’ve used a smartphone as your main personal phone for 3+ years.
• Comfortable communicating in English.
• Available for 3 consecutive days (Mon-Wed or Thu-Sat), starting October 16 on Friday.
• Not currently employed by a tech or AI company.
