Job summary

Mindrift is conducting a paid in-person study in Midtown Manhattan to understand how German speakers use their phones and digital tools. You will participate for 3 consecutive days, earning $100 per hour, with compensation up to $2,400.

The study runs in a convenient Midtown location and respects participant consent. You’ll describe your daily phone usage, walk researchers through your routines, and complete a short habits questionnaire.

Qualifications

• 18+ and currently living in NYC.
• A native German speaker who grew up in Austria.
• You use German in everyday life: texting friends, email, notes.
• You’ve used a smartphone as your main personal phone for 3+ years.
• Comfortable communicating in English.
• Available for 3 consecutive days (Mon-Wed or Thu-Sat), starting October 16 on Friday.
• Not currently employed by a tech or AI company.

Job description

Mindrift is running a research study on how people use their phones, apps and everyday digital tools, and how that differs across languages and cultures. We're looking for native German speakers in New York to join a paid, 3-day in-person study in Midtown Manhattan.

Why your language matters

Most technology is still designed with English speakers in mind. This study helps researchers understand how people who communicate in German actually use their devices, so future products work better for them.

• Fill in a short questionnaire about your habits.
