PeopleWorks IL, LLC is seeking a hands-on Temporary HR Manager to provide immediate HR leadership at our Phoenix, AZ battery manufacturing facility. This full-time temporary role spans two months, with on-site duties and a start date ASAP.

You will lead employee relations, payroll, compliance, and onboarding for shift-based teams. The ideal candidate brings manufacturing HR experience, strong investigations skills, and the ability to work independently alongside plant leadership and employees

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional HR experience, including manufacturing exposure.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing/industrial plant environment preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration or related field; equiv manufacturing HR experience considered.
• Strong employee relations, investigations, and HR compliance experience.
• Experience supporting HR operations in a shift-based manufacturing setting.

About the Opportunity

PeopleWorks is seeking an experienced, hands-on Temporary HR Manager to provide immediate HR leadership and operational support at our battery manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

This is a full-time, two-month assignment ideal for an HR professional with a strong manufacturing background who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment, address employee and operational needs, and provide reliable day-to-day HR support.

The ideal candidate will have strong employee relations and investigations experience, knowledge of manufacturing HR operations, and the ability to work independently while partnering with plant leadership and employees across a shift-based environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Employee Relations & Investigations: Address employee concerns, conduct workplace investigations, resolve conflicts, and provide guidance to supervisors and leadership.

• HR Operations: Manage day-to-day HR responsibilities, provide employee support, and assist plant leadership with HR-related matters.

• Recruitment & Onboarding: Support recruiting, workforce planning, candidate selection, and onboarding for manufacturing and technical positions.

• Payroll & Timekeeping: Oversee time and attendance processes, assist with payroll accuracy, and resolve payroll-related questions or discrepancies.

• HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, company policies, and applicable manufacturing workplace requirements.

• Employee Engagement: Support employee engagement initiatives, retention efforts, and positive employee relations across the facility.

• Safety & Workplace Support: Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and plant leadership on safety-related HR matters and workers' compensation processes.

• Leadership Support: Serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and supervisors, helping address workforce challenges and maintain consistent HR practices.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 5 years of professional HR experience, including at least 2 years in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing HR experience will be considered.

• Strong experience handling employee relations concerns, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and HR compliance.

• Experience supporting HR operations in a manufacturing environment, including shift-based employees and production teams.

• Working knowledge of payroll processes, timekeeping systems, HRIS platforms, and applicant tracking systems.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple competing priorities, and establish relationships quickly.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Availability to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to support operational needs.
