Job summary

Norwich Public Schools District-Wide in Norwich, CT, is seeking a Temporary Maintainer to support the facilities department with a broad range of repairs and maintenance tasks across the district. The role reports to the Facilities Director and Business Administrator and starts immediately.

The position requires a strong set of skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, HVAC, roofing and related trades, plus a valid CT driver's license and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities including: Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Masonry, HVAC, Roofing, Mechanical, Sheet Metal Work.
• Holds a valid CT Drivers License.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and necessary.

Responsibilities

• Duties include major and minor repairs to building and grounds including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry repair, HVAC repairs, roofing, mechanical repairs, sheet metal work, glazing, snow plowing, grass cutting, sewage system maintenance, landscaping, moving materials, working with artificial platforms, minor construction and renovation and any other related work directed by the facilities supervisor.
• These are only examples of the types of tasks the maintainer may be expected to perform.
• The duties require working with ladders, scaffolding, mechanical lifts and District vehicles, and following safety procedures.
