Job summary

Roane County Schools seeks an Educational Assistant to support classroom activities and help create an environment conducive to learning. You will assist the teacher with planning, supervising students, and maintaining orderly learning spaces.

The role supports individuals and small groups, helps implement instructional activities, and communicates student needs to the teacher. Requires a High School Diploma and, optionally, an Associates degree or ParaPro assessment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates degree or ParaPro Assessment (score 456+).

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conducts learning activities with individuals or small groups.
• Guides children to work and play harmoniously with peers.
• Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary.
• Assist students with personal care and monitor safety during transitions.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
2. Conducts learning exercises with individuals or small groups of children.
3. Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
4. Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
5. Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
6. Must be able to walk students throughout the building as necessary.
7. Helps maintain individual records for each child.
8. Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
9. Assist with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
10. Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
11. Assist students with personal care.

Other: Duties as assigned by administrators.

Must meet minimum requirements of:

• Walking distances of 100 yards.
• Light Lifting
