Job summary

Roane County Schools seeks an Educational Assistant to support classroom instruction and help maintain a learning-friendly environment. You will assist with lesson activities, guide small groups, and help with classroom displays and records.

The position requires a High School Diploma or an Associates degree/ParaPro assessment, and involves assisting with personal care as needed. Reporting to the building principal, this is a on-site educational support role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates degree or ParaPro Assessment with a score of 456 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conducts learning exercises with individuals or small groups of children.
• Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
• Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Must be able to walk students throughout the building as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child.
• Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assist with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
• Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
• Assist students with personal care.
