Job summary

University of Northern Iowa is seeking a custodial worker to perform routine building maintenance and cleaning tasks under supervision. The position runs Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm and is limited to 1040 hours per fiscal year.

The role requires basic reading and writing skills and prior cleaning experience is preferred. A background check and EEO obligations apply.

Under direct supervision, performs custodial duties necessary for the general maintenance of buildings which involve tasks that require carrying, lifting, bending; empties trash and recycling; changes light bulbs in assigned areas using stepladder; shovels snow and spreads ice melt to maintain building entrances; reports needed repairs by completing repair slips; fills out order forms for requesting cleaning materials, supplies, etc.; locks and unlocks doors; operates machines to facilitate cleaning activities; and performs other related duties as assigned. This is a temporary position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm. Temporary positions are limited to 1040 hours per fiscal year.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Ability to read, write, and follow directions. Prior cleaning experience preferred.
