Job summary

Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Food Service Coordinator at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon. The role leads AIC work crews, oversees meal preparation, and ensures sanitation and safety in a secure facility.

Temporary appointments last about 6 months with potential extension; duties include inventory, ordering, and recordkeeping while maintaining a positive work environment across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or higher and 1 year in commercial food service or related setting.
• An associate's degree in Food Service Management or related field.
• Must obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise AIC work crews; enforce rules; train and evaluate performance; maintain discipline and cleanliness; conduct searches for contraband; monitor timecards and work area conditions.
• Lead food preparation and service; operate commercial kitchen equipment; ensure proper portioning and quality; assist with special diets and menu adjustments; plan cooking schedules and minimize food waste.
• Oversee sanitation; maintain kitchen cleanliness; ensure proper storage and equipment sanitation; manage dishwashing temperatures and supply rotation.
• Perform inventory checks; request supplies; verify deliveries; assist with food ordering; direct unloading and storage of supplies.
• Maintain records on food prepared and served, leftovers, inventory, and AIC work hours.
