Job Summary
This position will. transport students, faculty, and staff toathletic competitions, academic events, and other college-relatedactivities. This position requires flexibility, including evening,weekend, and occasional overnight travel.
Job Duties
- Operates, cleans, maintains, fuels, and inspects buses.
- Ensuressafe operation of the bus.
- Ensures the safety of all passengers.
- Maintains current status of all qualifications for commercialdriving according to institution, local, state, and federalregulations.
- Completes all necessary paperwork promptly andaccurately according to institution, state, and federal agencies.
- Completes all training and testing as required by the institution,state, and federal agencies.
- Maintains accurate records of hours ofservice and miles driven.
- Performs simple repairs to keep the busessafe and operable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of experience driving a commercial orpassenger vehicle.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a passenger endorsementwith a clean driving record.
- Big bus - Class B CDL with P endorsement.
- Small bus - Class C CDL with P endorsement.
- Possess a current federal Department of Transportation (D.O.T.)medical card.
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Have no DWI or DUI convictions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience transporting college athletic teams orgroups.
- Familiarity with regional and out-of-state travel logistics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General knowledge of bus operation, including engine, transmission,cooling systems, safety features, basic electrical and vehicleHVAC.
- Ability to operate a bus safely.
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability totroubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adhere toschedules.
- Ability to adapt to stressful situations.
- Ability to work weekdays and weekends.
- Ability to travel overnight.
- Ability to work with faculty, staff, and student populations.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs multipletimes per day, and tolerate a wide range of temperatures andweather conditions.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Vol State campus locations and the surroundingareas.
Pay Rate
$30.00 per hour
