Bremner Editing Center at the University of Kansas is seeking an assistant to provide one-on-one editing support for School of Journalism students. You will guide revisions, explain changes, and help improve assignments, cover letters, and application essays.
Under the Coordinator, you will work with student writers, maintain a presence in the editing center, and assist during JMC Study Hall sessions as scheduled.
Position Overview
Students in the School of Journalism visit the Bremner Center for one-on-one help with editing their writing, including assignments, cover letters and application essays. They must be finished with a draft before they come in: The help is with revision and editing, not the initial writing process (though there is often lots of discussion about that as well). The assistant will work with student writers step by step through a piece of writing, pointing out what should be changed and explaining changes to correct mistakes and structural issues.
