The University of Kansas invites applications for a 100% Student Editing Assistant in the Bremner Editing Center. You will work one-on-one with student writers, guiding revisions and explaining corrections to improve drafting and comprehension.
Under supervision, you’ll stay available in the editing center when the Coordinator is away and participate in JMC Study Hall sessions to support students, ensuring clear feedback and timely assistance.
Students in the School of Journalism visit the Bremner Center for one‑on‑one help with editing their writing, including assignments, cover letters and application essays. They must be finished with a draft before they come in: The help is with revision and editing, not the initial writing process (though there is often lots of discussion about that as well). The assistant will work with student writers step by step through a piece of writing, pointing out what should be changed and explaining changes to correct mistakes and structural issues.
