Job summary

Maricopa County Elections is seeking a Temporary BTC Operator to assist with ballot processing and data entry during the November General Election. The role may work in the office, in the field, or in customer-facing settings, with an anticipated start date in October.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and overtime availability during the election cycle. Bilingual English/Spanish is valued.

Qualifications

  • One or more years of general office experience.
  • One or more years of moderate computer use experience.
  • One or more years of election experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes bundles of ballots for tabulators and scanners.
  • Maintains accurate ballot documentation using a number pad.
  • Lifts up to 50-pound ballot trays and moves ballots around the tabulation room.
  • Assists other divisions within Elections or the Recorder’s Office.
  • Performs daily operations as assigned by the Elections team.

About The Position

As a Temporary BTC Operator, you facilitate the election process by organizing and processing ballots and performing data entry. This position requires the employee to work in the office, in the field, or customer-facing for all hours worked. This is a temporary position supporting the November General Election with an anticipated start date in October.

We Require

This position requires a high school diploma or GED.

Other Requirements
  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessaryMust have legible penmanship

Job Contributions
  • Organizes bundles of ballots to feed into tabulators or scanners by sorting, stacking, and straightening bundles
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation of ballots tabulated using a number pad on a keyboard
  • Lifts up to 50-pound ballot trays from racks to the tabulation machine
  • Stands throughout the assignment, moving ballots around the tabulation room for processing and organization
  • Assists other divisions within Elections or the Recorder’s Office with daily operations and additional job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Full-time/Temporary/Holidays/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
  • Requires upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to review small fonts on hard copy or computer screen, the ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist up to 50 pounds, and carry for 100 feet, and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • All operations will be conducted under Livestream cameras and in the presence of political observers
  • Must not engage in any political discussions
  • Requires the use of proprietary elections-related software, a tabulation machine, scanners, and Microsoft Office products
  • Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times
Selection Procedure
