Job summary

Ventura Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Oxnard, CA is seeking an appointment scheduler to be the first point of contact for patients. You will manage scheduling, insurance verifications, and front-office coordination to ensure smooth visits and accurate billing.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and reliability. You will handle calls, messages for physicians, arrange interpreters, and provide overflow support during busy periods, contributing to a high-quality patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 12–18 months related call center or customer service experience.
• Experience in a medical front office or call center preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Cancel and reschedule appointments as necessary.
• Verify insurance participation and authorizations.
• Take messages for physicians and medical assistants.
• Check HMO encounters for authorizations.
• Arrange interpreters as needed.
• Insurance verification (E&B).
• Process copays, balances, or past due amounts in eCW.
• Provide overflow support to front office staff.
• Cover front office during sick/vacation.
• Respond to inquiries via text messaging software.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments
• Cancel and reschedule appoints as necessary
• Consult patients regarding participating status of various insurance contracts
• Take messages for physicians and medical assistants
• Checks HMO encounters for authorizations
• Schedules/confirms interpreters
• Insurance verification (E & B)
• Help front office staff with overflow work
• Cover front office staff (sick/vacation)
• Respond to all enquiries through text messaging software
• Process payments in eCW for copays, balances, or past due debt
• Other duties as assigned
