Job summary

The Church News is seeking a Temple Building Engineer to oversee facilities operations for temple complexes totaling 40,000–90,000 square feet. You will lead a team, ensure safe and efficient mechanical, electrical and building systems, and support custodial and security staff.

Required are a Bachelor’s degree in facilities management or equivalent certification, 4–7 years in physical plant operations, and a strong trades background with leadership and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years experience in physical plant operations and skilled trades (electrical, electronics, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, construction, blueprint reading, mechanical repair, HVAC, flooring).
• Strong leadership, organizational and training abilities.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
• Basic computer skills; licensing as required by local law; temple endowment required.

Responsibilities

• Gives work direction to assistant Building Engineers.
• Acts as resource to custodians, security guards, and gardeners.
• Assists the Building Engineer in supervising the physical plant.
• Provides supervision during the Temple Engineer's absence.
• Assists with maintenance planning using FMAT, TFIS and other software tools.
• Maintains and repairs HVAC, water treatment, laundry, kitchen systems, baptismal font filtration, electrical systems, and projection/sound/communication systems.
