Job summary

Gates Foundation seeks a skilled professional to coordinate and assist in developing an investments portfolio lifecycle, including grants and contracts within the Foundation’s Global Health division. You will support management of projects aligned with programmatic goals, contribute to enterprise resource allocation, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in business administration or program management.
  • Experience in project management, portfolio management, financial reporting, non-profit or related industry.
  • Practical understanding of all stages of the investment lifecycle and investment rules, mechanisms, regulations, policies, processes, and practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, investment systems and tools, and ability to learn internal systems.
  • Experience in financial planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on investment tools, systems, and templates and provide training and coaching to program team and external partners when needed.
  • Partner with investment makers by supporting the development, management, and maintenance of a portfolio of investments.
  • Perform initial investment due diligence, including collection of portfolio data, trends, and timelines.
  • Advise on complex investments, budgets, and financial analysis to maximize impact and identify risks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the investment lifecycle.
  • Partner with investment makers to operationalize and shape key business processes, including pipeline planning and forecasting.
  • Provide in-depth project management to investment team, including tracking timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain file organization, team sites, data and records, and a system for tracking tasks and projects.
  • Support deputy directors with monthly domain meetings.
  • Manage funding envelope for GH Collaboratory Platforms grantees and internal teams.
  • Support inclusive culture through modeling behaviors and timely issue escalation.

Job description

As the employment agency hiring temporary workers to be assigned to the Gates Foundation, we are responsible for direct hiring and seeking candidates for the following temporary role at the Foundation.

AgileOne designs and develops global workforce and procurement solutions for Fortune 1000 companies. Our focused and consultative approach provides solutions that streamline business processes and deliver efficiencies to human resources, procurement, and suppliers.

The Team

The mission of Discovery and Translational Sciences, within the Global Health division, is to catalyze innovation for the discovery and translation of transformative solutions to global health inequity. We pursue this by accelerating the discovery and translation of products that will help achieve the foundation's global health impact goals.

Your Role

You coordinate and assist in developing a portfolio of investments, including the implementation and maintenance of a range of activities associated with the life cycle of grants and contracts. You support management of projects in support of programmatic strategic goals, while participating in the continuous improvement of enterprise resource allocation processes. You support elements of budget planning and financial reporting, provide expertise in internal and external investment making processes and systems to inform decision-making, and also work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do
  • Act as a subject matter expert on investment tools, systems, and templates and provide training and coaching to program team and external partners when needed.
  • Partner with investment makers by supporting the development, management, and maintenance of a portfolio of investments. Able to independently manage complex investments and partnerships in service of shaping and optimizing successful investments, as well as ensure alignment with strategies and intended outcomes.
  • Perform initial investment due diligence, including the collection of portfolio data, identification of trends, and management timelines. Accountable for portfolio analysis and risk identification, as well as providing a perspective on portfolio performance and delivering thorough readouts to leadership.
  • Advise on complex investments, budgets, and financial analysis to maximize impact and identify risks.
  • Build, develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the investment lifecycle, including engagement with and management of external grantee and partner relationships. Overall ability to steward complex partnerships.
  • Partner with investment makers to operationalize and shape key business processes, including, pipeline planning, forecasting, and deliverable management.
  • Provide in-depth project management to investment team, including tracking timelines, deliverables, and communications.
  • Maintain file organization, team sites, data and records, and a system for tracking, monitoring, and prioritizing tasks, and projects.
  • Support deputy directors with monthly domain meetings.
  • Manage funding envelope for the GH Collaboratory Platforms grantees and internal teams funding the platform.
  • Support inclusive culture through modeling behaviors and actions; raise issues in a timely fashion to appropriate stakeholders.
Your Experience
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience preferably in business administration or program management.
  • Experience in project management, portfolio management, financial reporting, non-profit or related industry.
  • Practical understanding of all stages of the investment lifecycle and investment rules, mechanisms, regulations, policies, processes, and practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, investment systems and tools, and ability to learn internal systems.
  • Experience in financial planning and budgeting.

*This is a temporary backfill position, with an expected 11 month duration, starting in October, 2026.

*Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
