An established industry player in health care seeks a dedicated Dental Assistant to support dental providers during procedures. This part-time position involves preparing operatory areas, sterilizing instruments, and assisting with various dental tasks. The ideal candidate will have RDA certification or be in the process of obtaining it, along with essential certifications in radiation safety and CPR. POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide assistance to the Dental Providers during dental procedures, prepare operatory areas for patient visits, sterilize instruments, disinfect and restore operatory areas after use, and maintain dental equipment, supplies, and inventories.
Dental Assistant Duties:
• Perform extra-oral duties and functions specified by the supervising dentist.
• Operate dental radiographic equipment for oral radiography if requirements are met.
• Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models.
• Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents as directed.
• Assist in the administration of nitrous oxide when used as analgesia or sedation.
• Hold anterior matrices.
• Remove sutures.
• Provide patients with home care instructions.
• Apply topical fluoride after scaling and polishing.
• Place and remove rubber dams, wedges, and matrices.
Registered Dental Assistant Duties:
• Perform all duties of a Dental Assistant.
• Inspect the oral cavity and record findings.
• Take quality dental radiographs.
• Remove excess cement from teeth.
• Size stainless steel crowns, temporary crowns, and bands.
• Remove cement after placing temporary crowns.
• Place orthodontic separators, arch wires, and ligatures.
• Perform coronal polishing (requires special study and certification).
• Assist in dental procedures as needed.
• Prepare dental operatory areas.
• Understand and prepare dental materials.
• Use dental nomenclature and terminology.
• Present oral hygiene and nutrition counseling.
• Maintain certification and learn additional duties as required.
• Perform other related duties as directed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• RDA certification or engaged in study leading to certification.
• Radiation safety, CPR, and coronal polishing certifications or eligibility.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
