Job summary

Odom Rehab in Minnesota is seeking a temporary, full-time Occupational Therapist to deliver outpatient OT services in accordance with state guidelines. The role focuses on ethical, professional care within a geriatric rehabilitation setting located in assisted living facilities.

You will develop and update plans of care, supervise an OTA, coordinate with physicians, document daily, manage discharge planning, and maintain licensure and continuing education for ongoing practice.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a degree in Occupational Therapy and current MN State Occupational Therapy Licensure.
• One year of experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred.
• Experience in primary health care setting preferred.

Summary of Occupational Therapist Job Description:

This temp position OT will be responsible for providing outpatient Occupational Therapy services for Odom Rehab in an ethical and professional manner. Occupational Therapy services for Odom Rehab will be provided in accordance with each specific state guidelines.

The employee shall also perform (I) such other duties as are customarily performed by an employee in a similar position, and (II) such other and unrelated services and duties as may be assigned to the employee from time to time by Odom Rehab. This temporary, full-time position is anticipated for 4-5 month duration.

Essential Functions

The essential functions are a general description of responsibilities, duties and tasks that are expected of this position. It is not meant to be an all-encompassing list. Additional duties may be assigned as business or client needs dictate.

Essential Functions

Provide occupational therapy services.

1. Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with state guidelines.


2. Establish appropriate POC (Plans of Care) for the patients outlining the path to achieve the patient’s goals; reassess periodically to keep goals relevant.


3. Oversee the treatment provided by the OTA based on established POC.


4. Update POC as necessary for the patient's care.


5. Develop a discharge plan for patients once completing their occupational therapy.


6. Document patient’s treatment daily based on established and accepted practice guidelines.


7. Submit appropriate charges daily for occupational therapy services provided that date.


8. Communicate on a regular basis with the physician and medical staff regarding patients’ current status or change in status.


9. Assist in developing and updating Odom Rehab treatment protocols on an as needed basis.


10. Actively participate in Odom Rehab staff meetings


11. Track and complete Continuing Education Credits and renewal steps necessary to keep current on Occupational Therapy licensure.


12. Maintain an active Occupational Therapy license.

Qualification Requirements

1. Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a degree in Occupational Therapy and current MN State Occupational Therapy Licensure


2. One (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapist (preferred)


3. Recent / previous work experience in primary health care setting (preferred)

Working Environment and Physical Requirements

Work Rating:

Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.

Driving Requirements

This position has been designated as Mandatory Driving: Administrative.

As part of the new hire onboarding process OHW conducts background checks including a review of driving records for all employees required to drive in their position. In order to be in good standing, you will need to maintain a satisfactory driving record. OHW will assess individual driving records to determine if a person meets OHW’s driver safety requirements. If an individual’s driving record indicates a violation or combination of violations that are deemed excessive, OHW may discipline the employee up to and including termination of employment.
