Job summary

Phipps Houses and Affiliates in New York is seeking a Building Maintenance/Janitorial worker to keep common areas, halls, and lobbies clean and well-maintained across our properties.

Responsibilities include cleaning fixtures, floors, windows, restrooms, waste management, stocking supplies, and performing other duties as assigned. Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, laundry room, locker rooms and other work areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors and stairways.
• Dusts furniture and equipment, vacuum carpets.
• Polishes metalwork, cleans tiles and saddles.
• Washes wall and woodwork.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets.
• Clean vacant apartments as required
• Check compactor, remove full compactor garbage bags and put out for pick up per schedule.
• Sweep, mop and disinfect compactor room.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Clean garage, basement area and grounds
• Shovels snow and clears walkways in winter
• Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed

Education

General Equiv Diploma or better.
