Job summary

Related Management Company is seeking a Temporary Janitor/Porter in New York. The role supports cleaning of common areas, move-ins, and overall building upkeep to keep spaces welcoming for residents and guests.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of janitorial experience, can work independently, lift up to 50lbs, and maintain high cleanliness standards across floors, lobbies, and service areas. This position includes shift coverage and onsite responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years prior janitor, cleaner, or porter experience
• Must be reliable and have experience working with cleaning chemicals
• Must be a team player and be able to work with little supervision
• Excellent time management skills and work ethic needed
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and be able to stand for an 8 hour shift
• Light maintenance knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities

• Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building
• Respond quickly to spills, weather-related messes, or other safety hazards
• Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork
• Deep clean as needed (carpet cleaning, grout scrubbing, waxing floors)
• Maintain the laundry room, fitness center, and management offices
• Report any damage or safety issues to the Resident Manager
• Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room
• Change light bulbs and help prepare units for new residents
• Use building systems to log tasks and report ongoing issues
• Cover the front desk during concierge breaks
• Monitor service doors during move-ins and deliveries
• Assist with unit inspections and ensure spaces look great for tours
• Help set up and clean shared spaces like lounges, rooftops, and gyms
• Support building events and gatherings by helping with logistics and cleanup
• Keep shared spaces looking welcoming and refreshed
• Keep elevators, trash rooms, and amenity areas clean and odor-free
• Support recycling and compost programs
• Perform scent and cleanliness checks to ensure the building feels fresh
• Participate in team meetings and be open to cross-training
