Job summary

Joyce Steel Erection, Ltd. is seeking a temporary crane operator for outage work. The role focuses on operating and inspecting cranes, ensuring safety, and coordinating with truck drivers and helpers on job sites.

The candidate will perform routine maintenance, maintain logs, and mentor junior operators. Candidates must hold a Class A CDL, NCCCO Crane Operator Certification, and pass pre-employment screens including drug/alcohol, DOT physical, and background checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum CDL and NCCCO certification required.
• Experience with crane operation and rigging.
• Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI standards relevant to cranes.

Responsibilities

• Operate crane under complete control.
• Operate crane under supervision.
• Inspect crane and below-the-hook equipment for safety.
• Perform routine maintenance.
• Carry tools for repairs as needed.
• Direct drivers and helpers during setup and work.
• Mentor other crane operators and helpers.
• Take direction from supervision.
• Perform daily and monthly inspections.
• Maintain logbooks and hours.

• OPERATING CRANE UNDER COMPLETE CONTROL
• OPERATING CRANE UNDER SUPERVISION
• INSPECTING THE CRANE AND ALL OF ITS COMPONENTS AND BELOW THE HOOK LIFITING DEVICES ROUTINELY AND PERIODICLY TO ENSURE ITS SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF ALL INVOLVLED.
• PERFORMING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
• CARRYING TOOLS FOR PERFORMING REPAIRS AS NEEDED
• UNDERSTANDING AND EXECUTING THE JOB BILLING PROCESS
• TRAVELLING THE CRANE TO AND FROM JOB SITES.
• WEARING REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT WHILE PERFORMING WORK.
• CLEANING AND MAINTAINING THE CRANE AND ALL COMPONENTS
• UTILIZING MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS DURING ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY WHILE ERECTING CRANE, AND WHILE OPERATING THE CRANE IN ALL CONFIGURATIONS
• DIRECTING TRUCK DRIVERS AND CRANE HELPERS DURING THE PROCESS OF ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY, CRANE SET UP, AND SCOPE OF WORK.
• MENTOR OTHER CRANE OPERATORS, CRANE HELPERS, ETC.
• MINIMUM CLASS A CDL DRIVERS LICENSE AND MAINTAIN IT
• MUST POSSESS A N.C.C.C.O. CRANE OPERATOR CERTIFICATION CARD FOR SIZE AND TYPE OF CRANE OPERATING.
• MUST POSSESS CRANE OPERATOR QUALIFICATION EVALUATIONS ON ALL TYPES OF SIZE AND TYPE OF CRANES OPERATING.
• MUST HAVE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE OF OSHA REGULATIONS, AND ANSI STANDARDS ASSOCIATED WITH CRANE AND RIGGING SERVICES
• MUST BE PROFICIENT IN ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• HAVE PASSED AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREEN, DOT PHYSICAL, AND 7 YEAR BACKGROUND CHECK.
• MUST BE ABLE TO TAKE DIRECTION(S) FROM SUPERVISION.
• MUST BE ABLE TO MENTOR OTHER CRANE OPERATORS, CRANE HELPERS, ETC.
• MUST PERFORM DAILY AND MONTHLY EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS
• MUST FOLLOW ALL SAFETY AND COMPANY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AS WELL AS THAT OF CUSTOMERS.
• HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
• BE ABLE TO DRIVE HAUL TRUCK AND DELIVER LOADS
• MAINTAIN LOGBOOK AND HOURS
