Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Journeyman Cook to support campus dining operations. The role involves preparing food at short grill, grab-and-go stations, and made-to-order lines, while upholding food safety and sanitation standards.

Training staff and student employees is part of the duties, with focus on quality and efficiency. The temporary position runs for about 5.5–6 months, with 100% on-site work at the La Jolla campus.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in food preparation in a kitchen or dining area.
• Experience with standardized recipes and production sheets.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation, production methods and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food at grill, grab-and-go, made-to-order stations and salads.
• Train staff and student employees in entry-level cooking duties.
