Job summary

Herring Bank seeks a Teller I to serve as the front-line representative, handling deposits, withdrawals and standard transactions while delivering friendly customer service. This entry-level position provides foundational exposure to retail banking and growth opportunities within the branch.

As the Teller I, you will balance cash, identify suspicious activity, and assist customers with online banking issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months teller experience or 1 year of related customer service and cash handling experience.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Effective communication and time management abilities.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Process routine financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Balance cash drawer daily and verify end-of-day totals.
• Identify potential fraud or unusual account activity.
• Refer customers to appropriate bank services and staff.
• Assist with night depository duties and ATM errors.
• Promote bank products and services when appropriate.
• Follow all bank policies and procedures, including compliance requirements.
• Complete training on phone procedures and call queue system; log in, answer calls professionally, and direct callers to the appropriate department.
• Assist customers with basic online banking inquiries such as password resets and navigation.
• Greet customers promptly and professionally; provide excellent service.
• Participate in branch opening/closing procedures and maintain branch security standards.
