Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Hearing Officer to preside over disciplinary hearings, investigate complaints, and manage case scheduling across multiple locations in New York. The role requires JD or related degree, 5+ years of professional experience, and 3+ years in a leadership capacity.

Telework allowed one day per week. Responsibilities include conducting hearings, drafting charges, coordinating with unions and management, and training managers on disciplinary

Qualifications

• JD/Juris Doctorate or Bachelor’s in Business/Labor Relations or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of full-time professional experience; 3 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge of NYC Transit labor contracts and arbitration processes.

Responsibilities

• Investigate incidents and prepare disciplinary charges with supporting evidence.
• Hold pre-trials, conferences, and settlements with unions and management.
• Prepare witnesses and ensure all relevant documents are ready for hearings.
• Conduct trials/hearings and assess credibility; recommend appropriate discipline.
• Train managers on policy applications and disciplinary procedures.
