Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeks a Hearing Officer to preside over disciplinary hearings and investigations under the Labor Relations department. The role covers pre-arbitration disciplinary actions, contract interpretation grievances, and liaison duties across multiple locations, including bus depots and remote sites.

The successful candidate will conduct hearings, interview employees, gather facts, issue written decisions, and assist in scheduling cases.

Qualifications

• Requires JD or BA/BS in Business, Labor Relations or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with 3 years in managerial/supervisory roles.
• Knowledge of NYC transit labor contracts and arbitration processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preside over pre-arbitration hearings, discipline, expedited and contract interpretation grievances.
• Investigate complaints, interview employees, gather facts, and issue written decisions.
• Schedule hearings and liaise with management and unions across multiple locations.
