Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks a Labor Counsel in the Labor Relations division to provide expert legal advice on labor relations matters, represent the Authority in disciplinary cases and trials, and set litigation strategy for management matters in New York.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Employee & Labor Relations, this role requires a JD and NY admission with 6+ years of labor litigation experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of labor relations law and the Taylor Law.
• Experience in litigation and labor arbitration settings.
• Ability to draft legal briefs and advocate in hearings.

Responsibilities

• Advocate in arbitrations, disciplinary cases, and trials for the Authority.
• Lead litigation strategy and manage settlements and filings.
• Provide day-to-day legal advice on disciplinary matters and labor issues.
• Negotiate collective bargaining terms within cost guidelines.
