Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York seeks a Labor Counsel to provide expert legal advice on labor relations matters to senior staff. Reporting to the Senior Director, Employee & Labor Relations, you will negotiate with unions, review contracts, and ensure compliance with NY Civil Service Law, Taylor Law, and related statutes.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and NY admission to practice required.
• Minimum six years of legal experience with emphasis on litigation and/or labor relations.
• Strong written and oral advocacy in labor dispute settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on labor relations to senior staff and managers.
• Represent the Authority in disciplinary cases, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategy, prepare witnesses, and argue before tribunals.
• Advise on collective bargaining, policy formation, and contract interpretation.
• Negotiate with union representatives and coordinate with legislative teams.
