Job summary

The Maryland Department of Planning is seeking a Geospatial Data Specialist in the Geospatial Data and Modeling (GDM) Unit. You will perform advanced geospatial analysis, modeling, QA/QC, and project management for statewide GIS initiatives that support Sustainable Growth Principles and planning efforts.

You will lead technical analyses, coordinate delivery with staff and partners, and develop data products while promoting data governance and scalable workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
• Notes describe substitution options: credit hours, degrees, and military service.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced geospatial analysis and modeling for statewide GIS initiatives.
• Lead project management and QA/QC for analytical tools and data products.
• Oversee technical lead duties for junior analysts and coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Perform vector/raster spatial analyses using Python and ArcGIS Pro.
• Develop and optimize spatial data models and T-SQL queries for large datasets.
• Automate pipelines and establish data governance and metadata standards.
