Job summary

The Maryland Department of Planning’s Geospatial Data and Modeling (GDM) Unit is seeking a Geospatial Data Specialist to deliver advanced geospatial analysis, modeling, QA, and project management for statewide GIS initiatives. The position reports to the GDM Unit manager and supports Sustainable Growth Principles with modern, data-driven solutions that improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

Qualifications

Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
Substitutions allowed: 30 college credits per year of experience.
Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience can substitute for required experience.
Master's degree may substitute five years of required experience.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced geospatial analyses to support state land-use policy and growth planning.
Perform vector/raster analyses and design spatial data models; develop efficient queries.
Automate GIS workflows and establish data governance across unit assets.
Lead GIS analyses for high-impact initiatives and manage project schedules.
Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online applications.
