The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, is seeking a Civil Engineer (General) in Coal Center, PA to review mining plans, evaluate engineering designs, and help ensure compliance with state laws. This role emphasizes safety, environmental protection, and informed decision-making across multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities include permit reviews, technical analysis of drainage and reclamation designs, subsidence evaluation, and coordination with inspectors.

Qualifications

• Five years of civil engineering experience with an Engineer-in-Training certificate.
• Civil Engineer Trainee program completion or equivalent Federal title.
• Four years of civil engineering experience with an engineer-in-training certificate and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology.
• One year of civil engineering experience with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must meet PA residency requirements.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsabilités

• Permit review of mining applications for compliance with laws and engineering standards
• Evaluate technical designs including drainage, stability, and reclamation reports
• Review subsidence control plans to prevent structural damage
• Coordinate with inspectors and partner agencies during site reviews
• Provide engineering guidance to staff, consultants, and other agencies
• Prepare decisions and recommendations based on engineering judgment
