Job Summary The Tele-sitter provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via video-monitoring. Interacts with individual patients while "rounding". Provides verbal redirection to prevent patients from engaging in at risk behaviors and notifying the nursing staff if patient requires assistance. The Tele-sitter carries out various clinical responsibilities as well as documentation of tasks and supports and upholds the Patient Bill of Rights.

Essential Functions

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities

• Monitors and observes up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remains alert while on duty
• Maintains visual observation of patients at all times and communicates effectively using a microphone and headset
• Communicates with hospital staff and responds quickly to patient and behavioral changes
• Uses basic computer operation skills
• Provides assistance to patients while “rounding”, including toileting
• Collects data and charts observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Complies with hospital safety regulations, environment of care, risk management, and infection control policies. Assists in maintaining and providing a clean, safe environment.
• Performs delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared.

Qualifications
