Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with Avaya on-premises PBX systems.
• 2+ years of experience administering VoIP and Unified Communications platforms.
• 2+ years of experience with SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, call routing, and voice gateway technologies.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting voice quality, call routing, carrier connectivity, and E911 services.
• 2+ years of experience with telecommunications infrastructure, including voice circuits, SBCs, and PSTN integration.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and advanced administration for enterprise telephony, voicemail, conference services, IVR, and unified communications.
• Lead move, add, change, and disconnect requests for voice and telephony services.
• Maintain accurate 911/E911 location information.
• Serve as technical lead for telephony network projects and coordinate with vendors.
• Research, design, implement, and maintain enterprise telephony network systems.
• Configure and install telephony hardware including media gateways, phones, and safety devices.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, configurations, and network diagrams.
• Respond to incident tickets and coordinate with teams to resolve outages quickly.
• Identify opportunities for automation and collaborate with Automation team to improve efficiency.

Position Overview

The Client is seeking two Network Engineer – Project Leads (Telephony Engineers) to provide operational and advanced telephony administration during an increased workload associated with organizational reorganization.

The selected candidates will support enterprise telephony and unified communications environments, provide advanced troubleshooting and engineering support, lead technical projects, work with vendors, and help maintain reliable and resilient telephony services across university facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational and advanced administration for enterprise telephony, voicemail, conference services, safety devices, IVR, vectoring, call center services, and unified communications.
• Handle move, add, change, and disconnect requests for voice and telephony services.
• Maintain accurate 911/E911 location information.
• Provide advanced technical support and serve as a technical lead for telephony network projects.
• Research, design, implement, maintain, and improve enterprise telephony network systems.
• Configure and install telephony hardware, including media gateways, telephones, and safety devices.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, processes, configurations, system documentation, and network diagrams.
• Perform quality assurance testing and troubleshooting.
• Work with telecommunications vendors for new circuit provisioning and outage resolution.
• Analyze and maintain vector routing, ARS routing tables, route patterns, and call-routing configurations.
• Troubleshoot voice quality, carrier connectivity, routing, and telephony-related issues.
• Provide engineer-level support for enterprise telephony and unified communications.
• Respond to incident tickets and coordinate with multiple teams to resolve outages quickly.
• Perform advanced maintenance and repair of telephony and unified communications systems.
• Identify opportunities for automation and collaborate with the Automation team to improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor telephony and network systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure compliance with Incident Management and Change Management processes.
• Create detailed technical notes and knowledge-based articles for internal teams and customers.
• Serve as a primary escalation point for complex technical issues.

Required Skills

• 2+ years of experience with Avaya on-premises PBX systems
• 2+ years of experience administering VoIP and Unified Communications platforms
• 2+ years of experience with SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, call routing, and voice gateway technologies
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting voice quality, call routing, carrier connectivity, and E911 services
• 2+ years of experience with telecommunications infrastructure, including voice circuits, SBCs, and PSTN integration
