Qualifications

• 1+ years of recent Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk experience.
• Proficient in Medical Terminology.
• Knowledgeable in cardiac rhythm identification.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical skills to facilitate the accurate and efficient operation of the assigned unit.
• Files orders, reports and patient related information into charts in a timely manner; Demonstrates accuracy in computer input.
• Maintains safe, cost-effective work environment on the unit.
• Orders supplies for the unit and prepares patient charts daily; ensures crash carts are restocked after codes.
• Transcribes physician orders with nursing sign-off; checks completeness of patient records.
• Answers phones and communicates with physicians, families and departments professionally.
• Assembles charts for new admissions and for transfers.
• Maintains an organized nursing station and monitors workflow at the desk.
• Monitors telemetry units and reports rhythm changes to RN staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
