Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Telemetry Technician to monitor heart conditions and perform ECG-related tasks. The schedule includes two 12-hour shifts per week (7p–7:30a), with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

You will review ECG readings, identify arrhythmias, correct artifacts, and forward results to the physician. A high school diploma, ECG interpretation coursework, and CPR/BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Proof of successful completion of ECG interpretation coursework
• CPR – Basic Life Support via the American Heart Association

• Attaches electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on type of test ordered.
• Prepares skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.
• Obtains and documents ECG readings as directed.
• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
• Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintains ECG equipment and supplies.

The Telemetry Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Performs telemetry monitoring to provide data for the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.
