Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Telemetry Technician to monitor the Centralized Monitor Room during casual night shifts. This role supports patient care by observing ECG data, attaching leads, and ensuring accurate readings on an overnight schedule from 7pm to 7:30am.

The position requires ECG interpretation coursework and CPR/BLS certification. Responsibilities include continuous monitor surveillance, alarm recognition, artifact correction, and timely forwarding of results to physicians.

Responsibilities

• Attaches electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on type of test ordered.
• Prepares skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.
• Obtains and documents ECG readings as directed.
• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
• Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintains ECG equipment and supplies.

This position is casual status, working 12-hour shifts, no guarantee of hours non-benefited, fills in for employee who are on vacation or medical leave, overnight shift hours from 7pm to 730am.
