Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Telemetry Technician to perform continuous ECG monitoring and data collection for heart-condition patients. The position involves 24 hours per week across two 12-hour shifts from 7am to 7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include attaching leads, preparing patients, obtaining ECG readings, monitoring multiple screens, recognizing arrhythmias, correcting artifacts, and communicating results to physicians.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of ECG interpretation coursework.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

• Attaches electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on test ordered.
• Prepares skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.
• Obtains and documents ECG readings as directed.
• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes.
• Identifies and corrects artifacts.
• Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintains ECG equipment and supplies.

*** This position will work 24 hours per week working 2 12-hour shifts from 7am to 730pm with a every other weekend rotation and holiday rotation.

The Telemetry Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Performs telemetry monitoring to provide data for the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.
