Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medical Telemetry department. The role supports patient care under RN/LPN supervision, with a 16-hour weekly commitment and 12-hour day shifts (6:30a–7:00p).

No prior experience required if entering the PCA track with Mercy’s 175-hour training. Ideal candidates may have EMT/paramedic experience or prior patient care exposure (PCA/CNA/student nurse).

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 175-hour training provided during new hire orientation.
• Preferred: EMT, Paramedic, or prior patient care experience (PCA, CNA, or nursing student).
• Required education: High school diploma or GED; CNA/CPCT or enrolled in healthcare career program; 18+.
• Certifications: BLS within one month; completion of PCT competencies within 3 months.
• Preferred certifications: CNA, EMT, AUA, CPCT.
• Other: Minimum physical requirements: lift 50 pounds regularly; prolonged standing and walking; ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN to achieve wellness goals.
• Work cooperatively with the team; perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Support the UAP ladder roles and adapt as qualifications evolve during the offer process.
