Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in delivering patient care. Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and maintaining a safe, clean unit.

Applicant must have a CNA certification or equivalent, read/speak English proficiently, and hold current BLS. The role requires flexibility for variable shifts, including nights and weekends, in a busy California hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are not required to obtain it at this time.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assist., Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stocking unit supplies.
• Operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performing routine clerical tasks.
• Assisting with other related duties as assigned.
